The Nikon D800 blasts away the competition delivering more image resolution than any other DSLR on the market. Packing in an astounding 36.3 megapixels into a compact, lightweight body, this full-frame camera (with DX shooting option)delivers amazing dynamic range and superb detail.

Using a newly developed CMOS sensor, the D800 delivers exceptional depth and detail. Standard ISO range is 100 to 6400, expandable to ISO 50 to 25600. Higher ISO range gives the photographer/cinematographer flexibility to open an image up to new visual opportunities.

The D800 has an optical low-pass filter that reduces false color and moire. As an alternative, Nikon has introduced the D800E as well which removes the optical filter when sharper images are needed (*Note that the removal of the optical filter produces sharper images, but increases the possibility of false color and moire).

For filmmakers, Nikon is finally entering the video arena with a full range of HD features. The D800 captures full HD with 1080p at 30p. The camera also includes a flicker reduction option, high-fidelity audio input, live view output to external monitors (with a second live view option tailored for photographers) and recording uncompressed video via HDMI (1280x720). Time lapse photography can be played-back and saved as a movie file.
